Akwele Suma GLORY
Acting Executive Director

Akwele Suma GLORY is the acting Executive Director of wAi Africa one of the new generations of rising international women artists, who believe in art, and practice it in a clever way.

She is not formally trained artists, but self-taught. She holds a Diploma in Public Relations/Advertising/Marketing from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), a Diploma in Political Science from The Party School, Sofia, Bulgaria. She has a Certificate in Business Management and Administration from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

HER PRIMARY QUEST IS WHAT WILL MAKE PEOPLE PAY NEW ATTENTION TO LIFE.

She has been in full time art since 2000. Her mixed media construction combines elements of collage, assemblage/installation, painting, performance and sculpture.
She has distinguished herself in Ethnic Jewellery Design for about two decades.

Her work focuses on socio-cultural and environmental issues, and she is also concerned about activities that work for the development of women. Her practice in mixed media and conceptual art has earned her a number of awards both local and international.



Mardey Ohui Ofoe
Acting Programs Director

Mardey Ohui Ofoe is a trained photojournalist working with the wAi Africa. Mardey is a Poet, an Art Photographer, a Graphic Art Director, Film Maker and an Art Promoter. She is a mind strategist, Media Career, Counselor, Visual Communicator, and a campaigner.

Above all she is a pan- African and a cultural diversity advocate. She is concerned about development issues and initiatives that work for deprived people.

Her initiatives focus on women’s perspectives in development.

Mardey has ten years of experience in organizating media and the arts. She is committed to Women and the Arts.



Selasi Awusi Sosu
Programs Associate

Selasi A. Sosu is a multi-talented Ghanaian Sculptor who works in mixed media. She is a friend of the environment and an advocate for re-cycling. Selasi is a pioneer in Glass Sculpture in Ghana.

She has been engaged in a pioneering research exploring Glass as medium of Sculpture since 2002, culminating in the award of a Master of Fine Art degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. She is a KAAD Scholar and a member of the National Conference of Artists.

Selasi is still pursuing her research in Glass and aspires to go down the annals of Ghanaian Art history as the Ghanaian Lady Glass Sculptor.

She is currently a PhD candidate at the KNUST, Kumasi, Ghana. She has acted, danced, modeled, worked in broadcasting, written poetry and edited literary work.

Selasi has contributed her experience in team building on many College boards and achieved outstanding results.



Eric Haydock Apertogber
Account and Administrative officer

Eric Haydock –Apetorgbor, is the Account and Administrative officer of wAi Africa. He holds a Diploma in Accounting from the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS-Legon).

Having participated in the District Assembly Election as a Unit Committee Member for Kudjragbe Electoral Area in Big Ada in the Dangbe East District for two consecutive terms he has gained invaluable experience and exposure in being accountable, transparent and honest.

Eric believes that an accountant must always render his services with utmost good faith.
