Who We Are
The Women’s Arts Institute Africa (wAi Africa), a pan African women's arts organization, started working in October 2006 in Accra as a result of series of dialogue sessions held among African women in the arts. The focus of the Institute is to lead the world wide call in Africa on the links between the arts and development.
wAi Africa exists to bridge the rhetoric gap towards a world where creativity provides an opportunity for better life for all. wAi Africa works to change the status quo of women in the arts by challenging them to find answers to societies' many ordeal as the women's signature to creativity and demand for recognition.
wAi Africa works with governments, organizations, communities, professionals, businesses and academic institutions to achieve people driven development. This is done through a wide range of activities including our programs, consultancies, inventions research and theory propagations, policy implementation, mobilization, advocacy, provision of services, activism, learning and campaign.
wAi Africa a premier arts Institution, is truly committed to its cause to build a future that reflects the soul of Africans .
